I found this in a circulated bankroll from a bank box of U.S. Pennies. You can see the Die Cracks on his skull (Cracked Skull) and it has form a Retained Interior Die Break on his head. This coin is in excellent shape. I think this one is Uncirculated to Brilliant Uncirculated condition. What do you guys think on the grade of this coin?

Thank you Jim! It was a nice little surprise. I know this is common on Wheat Cents, but it's still cool and collectable to some.

Very nice Cracked Skull find, E&V..!

As far as MS unc grading goes though, unless the lighting is playing shadow tricks it's an RB to me; MS-64 to (+) obv, MS-65 to (+) rev..

Thank you da swampster! It's a very nice coin with a high grade. I think MS-64 to MS-65 sounds about right. This is what the coin actually looks like in hand.

I think BU MS64. The toning is light enough not to hide any tiny scratches, I can't see any. Some carbon (sulfide-oxide) spots.
Needs to be in airtight to prevent darkening.

Deep toning or dark patination can hide tiny scratches.

Thank you Dorado, uruman, harley1960, and T-BOP! I absolutely love collecting these as they're very fun to find. It's also a "Poor Man's Doubled Die", which is just actually caused by Die Deterioration Doubling from a very worn die. I love the condition of my Wheat cent!
