Hello everyone, I think I may ha e found an error coin. I have no other coins of this year so I have nothing to compare. I have a 1953S Lincoln Wheat penny that looks like it has a mint mark D stamped on tbe reverae of the coin locatrd on tbe T in the word CENT. The D mint mark is on the left side of the bottom of the T. It is also upside down and backwards. Has anyone ever seen or heard of such a coin? Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Also I can't seem to upload any images. I've tried for 30 mins and I give up on the image loading but I do have graet images and would be glad to send them or if someone could help with uploading image because you need to explain a little more detail for people like me who don't use computer often

Does the "D" stamp appear to be the same small size as a mintmark or is it larger?

Marks are incuse, so that is damage to the coin. Not an error. Just a bad coin event that happened to it.

I appreciate your opinion. I guess the pictures don't do it justice. When looked at through a magnifying glass it is no doubt a letter "D". It looks exactly like the ninntmark

The metal was moved from the top of the device when it got hit. I just looks like something because the brain does that for us. It happens all the rim. Now can you see what I'm talking about when you look on the top of the device?

I think it is a d. You can see the strait part of the d going into the t. This website has a horrible picture set up. How can anyone say its damaged when it cleary looks raised up not indented. Take it to coin shop or something.

The hit folded over a D-shaped impression into the field. No way this could conceivably be a mintmark.
