Can anyone tell me what kind of error this is? I'm new to this forum and coin collecting in general so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Die crack. Fairly common on quarters. Most of them are on the lower bust area.

Thanks! I was hoping it would be the $1,000,000 quarter but I'll take what I can get.

If every coin that had a die crack was a million dollar coin, then a million dollars would not be anything anymore. So many, I don't even save them anymore. After you've seen your fill of them, then you realized they are a broken down die. Give me a EDS coin (Early-Die-State) coin.3/4 of the run of any set of dies, are the ones that I would not want. Give me a great looking coin.

I've actually got a dime that's so shiny it's almost mirrored. I couldn't figure out what it was. Maybe this?

Sounds like a proof dime.

Hold on a second. I was wondering if you can get closer pictures of the "I" in "Liberty" on your coin. That etheir is a Rim To Rim Die Crack or a Retained Cud (Die Break).

to CCF. I am seeing a minor MAD and a Rim Fin along with a die crack that might be considered a pre Cud.It does not look like the right side of the crack is reaching the rim...yet.

Thank you everyone for your replies. Sorry I didn't reply sooner but I work very long hours. The line above the I is raised; not cracked. I'm not sure how a die crack works? Is it a raised line in the coin due to a crack in the die or something different? I'll submit some other pictures I took. If they're not clear enough I'll have to take another after work tonight.

Your coin is not a proof,it is a business strike. A die crack would leave a raised line on the coin.

Not the coin in the picture. I'm referring to a different coin I mentioned in a reply.
