Man, oh man, if this thing was fully intact... well, I probably wouldn't have won it in a budget lot!

Indo Greek kingdom
Hippostratos, c. 65-55 BC
Bare-headed, diademed bust of king right, Greek legend around:
BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΣΩTHPOΣ / IΠΠOΣTPATOY
(Basileos Soteros Hippostratou ... of King Hippostratos, the saviour)
Tyche standing left, holding cornucopia and conferring blessing with right hand,
monogram at left and Kharoshthi letter a at right,
Kharoshthi legend around: maharajasa tratarasa / hipustratasa

Indo-Greek---Hippostratos-AR-Cut-Tetradrachm

A rather uncommon ruler, he was a successor of Apollodotus II and CoinIndia notes that he was the last Indo-Greek ruler to issue tetradrachms.

The cut is very straight up until about the top third/quarter... I suspect that it might have been cut to make change, but an additional piece broke off at a later date.

Good find - certainly not a ruler one encounters very often. Whether an intentional cut or an accidental break, it's good to see that the great majority of the portrait was preserved.

Not a cut coin.
I have a strong suspicion that this coin simply broke apart.
A natural degradation silver embrittlement process, known as silver crystallization, has affected this coin. There are quite a few references to be found on Google on the natural process of silver crystallization or silver embrittlement.
