Definitely not ancient. The details are hard to make out, but it's certainly a castle/lion combination. Perhaps?: https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=3963345

@JSL9900, first welcome to CCF. Second, yes the Castle and Lion motif pins this as medieval Spain. There isn't much of the legend remaining, but taking pics outside of the 2x2 might reduce the glare enough to give a better attribution. Also, a diameter and weight could be useful.

Welcome to the Forum!

Might have to take pictures out of the two by two to better make out the details.

Maybe.

Edit: I see Spence and I were typing at the same time.

I am getting 26-27 mm if that is a standard 2 x 2.

Looks very much like the coin Bob L. has suggested ... The diameter measures 2.7 cm. A little over an inch.

I agree very similar central designs--@bobL has an uncanny knack for this stuff.

When you see a castle and a lion, or a shield with castles and lions, Castille & León (Spain) is the logical place to start.
