Ya found one man! Woohoo! Now figure out which one, the 003 or 008. A bit beat up but see the DDO on IGWT? THATS a DDO! It is easy to tell the difference between these two, they are similar except the lower part of 2, thicker 1972-1MM-008. Congrats! https://coppercoins.com/lincoln/die...ie_state=lds

Hey crazyb, my guess based of Wexler a info would be 1972P-1DO-008. Would you agree? What condition would you put this?

Very nice find! It's a Doubled Die Obverse and it's a real one! Congratulations on the find.

Remember when they were hard to tell on the 003 & 008?. Not any more since figured out the date differences. What a time saver.

Would this DDO look better in a slab? I know they say don't clean an error. Anything I can do to spruce it up? Thanks

Its so damaged, even professional conservation and slabbing expense isn't worth the cost, value isn't there. Give it a good acetone bath and rinse then put in a 2x2 or flip for the future. I have one similar in my Whitman album in the 1972 doubled die hole, it may not be THE big one but it is a 72 DDO!

The only thing that's proven safe to use is Acetone and Verdi-Care. Only those 2 are safe. If you try to use anything else, it will harm the coin and strip the Patina off of the coins surfaces.

I would leave it as it is. Who knows what ill happen in 10 years and they will look at their coins and say "I shouldn't have done that." On valuable coins I don't touch them. Too much can be lost doing the wrong thing.

You should include the date, mintmark, and the denomination in your titles. Why Topic Titles are ImportantThe title of your topic is very important. Let's say you need help attributing an 1896 Morgan Dollar.... - Horrendous: Help!
- Bad: Need help with coin
- Better: Need help with Morgan Dollar
- Good: Need help with 1896 Morgan Dollar
- Awesome: Need help with V
AM on 1896 Morgan Dollar
This enables the members with expertise pertaining to your question to easily find and answer your question. The title of the topic also becomes the title of the topic's web page, which enables us to attract more collectors to the site. The more members we have, the more we learn.

Coop, that's just the thing. I don't know whether or not it holds a decent value for this error. Can't seem to find much on possible value.
Thanks
