Thanks. They're all in XF to AU range except for one which is BU. Till I come across the Franklins I'm going to concentrate on the mercs. Only problem is there's only one seller that I'm comfortable with at the Melville show, so even though the show is held often I doubt they'll get more mercs in that fast.

Those ladies you picked up are lovely! The 1939, 1937, 1944, and 1923 are exceptionally beautiful. I love Mercury dimes. I think they are one of the most beautiful coins we've ever made. And the great thing is you can still pick up nice examples like these for relatively few bucks. I'm gonna play the Price is Right again, I'd say you paid (without going over) $150. I might have gone over, and I may not be close. Oh well. But they sure are a great bunch of ladies. Thanks for showing them to us. I love them!

mfry, I paid $54 for all of them. I was very happy. I would love to work the set in UNC mercs but the 16D I can afford will never match the set, therefore I decided to stick with EF/AU.

I am very partial to the crisp, clear mint marks on them.

Quote: I would love to work the set in UNC mercs but the 16D I can afford will never match the set, therefore I decided to stick with EF/AU. I prefer uniformity as well. So where's how I got past that issue for my Lincoln set. All Wheaties (1909-58) are XF+ and all brown. All of the keys are certified, which I prefer anyway. So they don't end up in the album. I used common, Indian Heads to "represent" the slabbed coins that I already own. One option you have is to pick up a certified 16D and represent it with a nice Liberty Head dime.

But wouldn't the IH cent look out of place in a lincoln set anyway?

Very nice coins Shatsi! I know what you mean concerning that pesky 16 D, but I'm reasonably happy with the one I got, even though PCGS only gave it an AG 03. I'm still swapping them out to the new album, and working on several other albums simultaneously. Will post pics when I get done, I know how you guys LOVE pics! Also still hunting for those overdates, so I guess I'll have to keep the old album TOO!

John, my mercs are in an Intercept album and it doesn't have slots for overdates. There's a slot for the micro S but that's it.

shatsi, how do you like that Intercept Album quality wise? I was seriously considering one but I couldn't find one to look at in-hand. Whitman Classics are TERRIBLE. I went with Dansco, nice quality and a good reputation for protection. But I was thinking Intercept would be best to keep my red Lincolns red.

Quality seems really good. I like it. I haven't really used Dansco other than a used Dansco album so I can't compare. My only complain is that its extremly hard to insert the coins into the slots. My fingers were paining after inserting the mercs. I'm having this problem with the Merc set and the Jefferson set I'm working on. Having said that I don't have this issue with the Franklin set. So I don't know whether its only for the small coins.
I'm also working on a Proof lincoln set and I've housed them in Intercept 2x2s since they seem to be the best.

Shatsi, I recently bought an intercept shield album for my mercs, also one for Roosevelt dimes, Washington quarters, WLHs, and lincoln cents. I was very pleased with the merc album, the coins fit in realy easily, nice quality album, same with the roosevelt album. The Washington quarter and Lincoln Cent albums I've had to use the "wallow out with an old coin first" technique, but other than that I like em. Haven't had time to start filling holes in the WLH album yet, but the quality appears similar. For my mercs, I have an old Whittman album, which has slots for the 42/1, but not the 42 D 42/1 or micro s, I also have a Dansco which has no slots for either of the overdates or the micro s, and a Harco album that has a slot for the 42/1 only also. I've taken all the dimes from the Harco album and soaked them in acetone because the original owner didn't know how old the album is, just to be on the safe side. I realy like the Intercept shield albums all in all. They have their own slip cases, same height, and a pretty decent color.

I wonder why mine is so hard to push the coins in. I wear gloves when I'm handling but not happy at the amount of pressure I need to put into the coin to get it fully in.
