I'm sure that all of you can tell without even trying but is this 2009 south carolina quarter just damaged or did the off centering cause it? Take a good look at the front "liberty" and the ghosting of words on the edge? Sorry for my inexperience and lack of knowledge in advance...

Welcome to the forum...You've come to a great place to learn and share.

All I see is a defenceless quarter that got the crap beat out of it.

SOMEBODY has a Dremel-type tool and a grudge against SC.

If it was a 1960, it looks like something I would have done when I was a kid........BEFORE I started loving coins!

I'm just glad it's not silver.
Rest in Peace

I can certainly understand why you would ask. It seems hard to believe that someone would intentionally take the time to mangle this poor beast. But it has been drimmeled into being near valueless.

To CCF! This is Post Strike Damage (happened after it left the U.S. Mint). You can see the pushed and flattened metal. Since it's damaged, it's only worth face value.
Errers and Varietys.
