Came across this penny today. My dad had been holding on to it for nearly 40 years. I can't find any for comparison. Is it of any value?

Bingo. You can one of the memorials is raised and one is incuse, imprinted into the coin plus the obverses has that pattern on it which I believe is maybe from a hydraulic press.

Well, I hate to break to you, but it's not a genuine error coin. It's 100 percent Post Strike Damage (happened after it left the U.S. Mint) It's a Vise-Job. It's has been squeezed in a vise-grip in between another cent. Worth face value unfortunately. http://www.error-ref.com/squeeze-jo...-garage-job/

Hate to agree with the PMD opinion.

The reverse is what is referred to as a vise job where two coins are squeezed together leaving a mirrored imprint on both coins involved. The circle pattern on the obverse could be a work surface like someone above mentioned a press work base.

Edit: on a side note after looking at your LMC again, it was squeezed so hard that I'll bet the diameter even increased from the 19 mm it should be.
