Good evening,

I picked up this Tabarestan coin awhile back and am finally getting around to researching it. So faar I have not been able to identify it. Go figure.

I think it may be Sassanian instead, based on the obverse but I am not sure.

Here are some pictures for you guys to admire and hopefully help me attribute.

Really cool coin. Both sides are like staring into clouds looking for shapes. I could let Pareidolia take over and I could make out all sorts of things.

Once you have it attributed I'd be interested in what exactly is on it.

Not Tabaristan, but Sassanian emperor Peroz, 459-484. It's not an easy one to identify if you are not familiar with it, because this is his second crown, without wings flanking it. It was used for years 3-8 of his reign, and is a much scarcer type. It's in lovely condition too!

It will take me a while to take a stab at the mint; Ron might bear me to the punch

It think the mint might be ST for Istakhr, the lower part of the mark covered up by rounded piece of metal.
