I can't remember when I purchased this display case with the different varieties of 1962 1 cent and 5 cent coins, at the time I didn't care what the coins looked like in the case I wanted the case. As it turned out the coins in the case were alright MS-63's nice red cents and bright 5 cent with no ugly marks or scratches. I purchased it on ebay from Sean Isaacs, Alliance Coins & Banknotes so I new it would be presentable as he always has nice coins.

That is nice. Looks like even the screws are clear acrylic.

Cool case!
What's the difference b/w 'double date' and 're-engraved'?

I'm not really sure about a correct answer to your question johnnysprawl to me they are both double dated coins the double date one's seem more dramatic than the re engraved dated one

Whatever reference that the article is from, I don't agree with ... unless someone has changed the definition of hub-doubling. What the article is actually defining is Die Deterioration Doubling, NOT hub-doubling.... at least the way that I understand things from reading. If you read Wexler's or Herbert's books on mint errors, there are 8 different "types" or "causes" of hub-doubling, each of which shows up slightly different than the others. There is "design hub", "distended hub", "distorted hub", "modified hub", "offset hub", "pivoted hub", "rortated hub", and "tilted hub" ... each a different type of hub doubling and the 1962 fits none of them, in my opinion.

Thank you SPP for the articles, there was never any disbelief in my mind of your knowledge of Error and variety coins or coins in general SPP.

Those old holders actually garner a lot of attention sometimes... the Bank of Canada currency museum has a collection of holders like that, that collectors put together over the year.... sort of a lost art now...
