I found this 1971 D LMC and at first glance I thought it was a Greaser. After looking closely I can see that the area where TRUST is at is beveled out as if hit by something. The rim is not affected whatsoever. It looks like it took a hard hit but the reverse has no sign that it is damaged. You can barely make out the letters TRU. Insight please.

That's struck through. If it we're dented by something I think you would still see the letters but they would be smashed. I could be wrong though.

Thanks David! This is the first time for me to see an indentation made by grease in a cent like this.

Well the affected areas would on the CENT area. The reverse shows that there is some weakness on this area. But the NT looks affected by grease. So I was thinking grease or something that was like debris missed with grease? Note the area in question looks deeper than the field. So if something was stuck to the die, like grease and cardboard, that might account for the lowered area on the obverse. The hair and below IN also looks like something affected that area. So I'm thinking is more than just grease in the die. But something in the chamber as well. Kind of a glob of something.
