Hi all,
In the last few Long beach coin shows, there was a new boot, they sell somekind of Digital Microscope that is hand held type, I was pretty impressed by it, but as they have different models, and the one I like was some $400+ I held back. they have cheaper ones, but, hmmmm. I figure I better study this first.
soooo, anyone have experiance with that ?

I bought a "cheaper one" and quickly found out that although it claimed focus to infinity, it certainly did not. Nor did it offer the variable magnification it claimed either. It is fine on smaller coins, but halves and dollars are too large. I have found use for it for varieties, but not for whole large coins. The software is poor also, images tend to "bloom" easy and have to be corrected in photoshop usually. Maybe I just got a bad one, but it is the common asian one sold on ebay.

I Think you are talking about one of the Replicas, I been worn from those, they are just a cheap fakes, and sell for about $50 give n Take. the cheap one I was referring to was some $200 and made by same company, Big C. I didn't like it because it deliver .3 mega pix. and the better one, I think model 411 deliver 1.3 pixels. the main different I noticed in the show, is that the "cheaper one" lose resolution when you enlarge the picture.
So is probably OK for online purpose. but I really want it to index my own coins for myself. and will hate to go thru all the work just to find I could do it easier, or better...
