It looks like Post Strike Damage since I can see displaced metal. The metal has been pushed and flattened.

That's a wierd one. Do zinc pennies have lamination issues?

Prob got jammed up in something or hit with something. You can see how the rim on the right side in between the lines is flattened out. As opposed to the rest of the country edge.

I can't explain it, but someone will be able.. May have happened during ejection? Both strange and neat no doubt! I'd hang on to it..

Check the edge of the coin that may help us to determine what happened. Looks like the plating from a whole coin was struck onto this coin? The color on the lower area is copp, not gray, correct?

Edge of the coin is normal all around.Rims aren't flattened either. Trying & failing to get a good pic. It's almost as if I can peel it off.

Getting kind of personal there are you Swamp? LOL (think about the first question?) Looking more like a struck through another coins large plating. A keeper. I'd leave it as it is.

If you look at pic 1 in original post, the only part that looks like it would peel up is right under trust. The top line is solid all the way across until there. I'll correct myself & say the whole channel is not below the rest of the design. I'm at a stand still. Pretty cool either way & will set it aside

Guess "The Daily Mail" gossip column is affecting me more than I thought, Coop.. Thanks, wrongnumber.. And what Coop said about strike through.. Not sure I understand flow-over, but that must be what lower portion is.. Swamp

Very interesting find and coin! That's a keeper! It looked like Post Strike Damage at first, but it wasn't. It was Struck Through Foil from another coin as Coop said. I will contact Mike Diamond about this one.

This is an example of cracked and peeling copper plating. It could also represent the lifting up of a composite copper-and-zinc layer. It depends on how thick it is and what the underside looks like. I've seen a number of examples over the years.
