I was wondering if someone could show me some pics of a 1963D DDO LMC. I think I finally found a Double die but need pics to compare it first.

I wouldn't jump up and down yet. While you may have found a DDO, that particular one is very slight and Machine Doubling is often confused for the doubled die.

I'm not trying to "rain on a parade" but it is easy to confuse one for the other if you are not familiar with what to look for.

Let's see pictures.

Thanks,
Bill

If you would note on the link address, that is 002. Which means there is a 001 and more after the 002 not taking into account to the unknown ones not listed yet. Images would help to determine if that is the same die number as what you have. On yours, is the mint mark in the same exact location as the image? I don't mean under the date. But that same distance south, east or west of the bottoms of the digits? That might be a quick check to see if your mint mark location is the same. If not, then its from a different die. So lets see more before we decide to go out and buy a new Lexus? (Exaggeration intended)

Ive been messing around for an hour and cant get a good pic. I'm getting very frustrated and need to hold off on the pics for a while otherwise ill break the camera. I'm gonna see if I can build something to help take good pics like most people on here built.

Achieving good images of a coin close enough to show doubling can only be done through a microscope. It's not a matter of building something, it's a simple matter of having the correct equipment. Using a camera alone to get a shot that close will never work.

1913-V Go to target if you got 40 bucks and buy an Eyeclops (Kids toy) 200x image on your TV. Then take a picture from your TV. Thats what I used on the Pepper Lincoln.

Bill I'm guessing through a loupe. The fields aroung devices aren't as focused as a microscope would do. Nice TDO though.

Hi,
I'm still not counting on it being a doubled die until a completely clear picture can be provided. Also, taking pictures through the plastic on a 2X2 usually does a nice job of distorting the image.

I find that to declare something as a doubled die or any other die variety based upon pictures that are of this quality can give someone false hopes at best and false information at the worst.

I am not saying that this is the case for this particular coin but some folks want to see what the consensus of opinion is and then coins like this end up on ebay. Again, I am not saying that this is the case with this poster or with this particular coin but we really have to be careful with what we say a coin is. It could contribute to someone purchasing a coin that is not described correctly.

I am sorry to say that the pictures, although nicely attempted are still not clear enough to take a stab at this one.

Thanks,
Bill

Im not selling this coin dont worry Bill lol. I'm not 100 percent sure it is even a double die thats why I put a pic of it on here. I only sell what I'm 100 percent sure of. I cant get a good enough pic to show up the detail. I know it would help to take the coin out of the holder lol. I guess the coin could be alot of things die deteriation, Mechanical Doubling, and on and on. I still dont understand double die yet. Double die and Mechanical Doubling are really close in similarity thats what makes it hard for me. This coin is probably only a MD.

I do think that with the coin out of the holder and with a little bit of "fiddlin" around, you can get a suitable picture. The coin just may be a good one, it's just not possible to tell yet.

Have Fun,
Bill
