at first glance I thought these were some sort of die trails or MD but confused myself when I saw the notches in the W. thoughts on this?

Looks like a worn die and or over abraded die to me.Not a DDO.

It could be another form of Machine Doubling called push doubling, but minor. In the 'E' on WE? You see it on the left side of the device. But mas a side be side and see if the vertical part of that device is narrower? Make sure to use a coin from the same year.(the devices are wider than some years) then the devices are being moved by the bottom part of the devices die. MD usually hits higher on the devices thus we often see the classic doubling. But try a SBS to see if that is the case?
