I agree with lighting. More of a reflection of glare. But looks like it took a hit on the 'R'. Before taking you next coin image, try this place a toothpick on a device under a scope? You'll see how minor this mark really is.

The "R" of "Liberty" has taken a well placed hit and it's not an error. Worth face value, because it's just damage.
