2018 D Lincoln Shield Cent / LSC , Grease Or MD Or Doubled Die Obverse / DDO On The 8?

Jim0815 Pillar of the Community United States 5239 Posts	Posted 06/15/2018 3:10 pm I found two 2018 D LSC's with what appears to be the product of being a Greaser or MD. However, I haven't seen a Greaser look like this one so I'm thinking MD. Weird to say the least. The rest of the devises are absolutely normal. In case I'm missing something yet. What interests me is the 8. Note how each shows a larger loop on the right side? That reminds me of the 80's doubling. But with the single squeeze process that started in 1996, the ball game has changed. The die are wearing quicker. Thus the design could be moving that direction. Or they may just be flattened. But if you got these in rolls of OBW coins, see if you can find other examples with the same die markers. If you can and they're normal, then it's a coin issue rather than a die issue. But if they look just like this coin, it maybe a die issue. Maybe just wear/spreading or a doubled die. But to me, we should see more spread on other devices. (Sometimes you need to be like Sherlock Holmes to think of all possibles to figure it out) Report this Post to the Staff
