Zach, you ought to find out the real reason for all the spiked head coins that seem to radiate from the 12 o'clock position. Has to be a common point in the process being seen on so many different dies and dates. Since the way they are minted has the obverse down, has to be the anvil die in the squeeze process I would think? Maybe there is an adjustment/mounting point that causes pressure on the dies at that area? lot, like this one, are nowhere near VLDS, the common factor of rim deterioration cracking.

Very nice find and congratulations! That's a good one. That's weird how you'll already see a Die Crack forming on a coin in a earlier die State.

Maybe use the PM to contact mikediamond. He's one who knows the process, write him a note with this thread as reference?

I really think there's a common thread source behind this, something on the press mechanism is causing too much pressure at that point, maybe as simple as a set screw holding die in place even.

I don't have an answer. I also haven't paid enough attention to radial die cracks to have developed any sense as to whether there's a concentration of such cracks at any particular clock position.

That is super -
@CrazybO - that is a really good point as most of them are as mentioned. There are plenty of examples to work from maybe someone should investigate it?

Maybe JC at COC has the answer.
