Hey y'all, I was looking through my War Nickels and came across this. What are your thoughts on this being a 1943/2 variety? Thanks in advance!

It doesn't appear to be the OVD variety.

I know nothing of varieties in this series, nevertheless, I always ask myself a generic question, if I decide to learn about particular coin:
'Is this a genuine over date, or a post mint altered date?'
Will continue to watch this thread for opinions that are far more specialist than mine. (part of my learning experience)

I can see why you would think this is a 43 over 2 , but I really don't think it is .

What's the mint mark?
To me, it appears that portion of the 3 has been flattened to a point, giving it the appearance of the overdate.

I don't believe that's the 1943/2. The angle of the "barb" isn't sharp enough, and there's no sign of the base of the 2 in the bottom loop.

Here are a few images to help with the question. Note the angle created by the doubled die. Also note the marks outside the three at 1:00. Also you will see close doubling like MD on other devices. (Arrows) This actually hub doubling, as the date was not the only thing affected. This is a doubled die because two different years of hubs were used. So on the other outside devices you will see mild doubling. If you're using a tablet looking at this image, you can enlarge the image easier. Then you will see it easier. Hope this helps.

Nope, not a Overdate. That's just flattening from circulation wear.
Errers and Varietys.

This is a P mark '43, I was thinking the same as you all with the flattening of the three. I just wanted to get some educated opinions on the matter.
Once again, thanks!

That's what we're here for. If you are keeping an eye out for the real deal (like me), I recommend downloading those pics that coop posted.

New images a little closer in. Info I put on this coins images: 1943-P DDO-003, 3-O-II-C+III+V-CW from K-5 Medium spread on IN GOD WE TRUST, LIBERTY, star, and date which shows a 3/2 overdate. This die was hubbed with two different years. While the doubling look like Machine Doubling it is not. It is the miss match of the two different years hubs that creates the mild doubling of the other devices. Looks affected, but probably not listed as a RPM.
