Hi again.
I was clothes shopping yesterday and as I handed over a bunch of notes this $5 caught my eye. The young girl was about to put in the register and jumped as I yelled "WAIT!! Pass me that $5 back!" with a confused look she slowly handed it back and jumped again as I snatched it out of her hand, the confused look became one of cautious concern as I gave her the same type of $5 note back and without a word I walked off holding is about 4 inches from my face. Initially I thought someone had just drawn on it with a purple Texta but upon magnification it seems to be tiny microscopic pink and purple lines that give the queens eyes their colour. I tried to wash it off with mild soap and water but the colour remains I'm curious if anyone has seen something like this? Could it be a real error note or has it been doctored up. Would love to hear your thoughts.
I uploaded a photo of the original colour and then a few of me altering the hue just a show that the eyes are the same colour as the field outside the Queen's portrait

I don't actually collect Notes and I only have 1 Fiver on hand for a comparison, as follows:

The colour of the eyeballs is definitely NOT the same as shown in your sample.

I guess we wait to see if any one else has examples similar to yours.

Thanks Nevol, Yes prior to posting it on here I searched ebay for "new generation $5 note error" to see if any had been found and were for sale with no luck, but it is early days in the notes circulation I guess. I have absolutely no idea of what takes place in the printing process but it's logical to think that if something went wrong that caused this there would have to be a number of sequential notes with the same pink coloured eyes in circulation.

I'm away from home for a few more days MrT, when I get back I will take some close up shots of the eyes and of the whole note itself in good lighting with a another note next to it so you can see the contrast. Its definitely not in the best condition and looks as though someone had it in scrunched up their back pocket and had sat on it for a while & I've done my best to flatten it between books.

like you said Neville time will tell if any more turn up. My 8yo daughter cleverly named it the "Evil Eyed Queen" as it's prefix is EE so I would say if there are others they will share the same prefix
