I purchased this coin off ebay last week delivery was quick.

The 3 reasons I purchased this 1908 was that it was a nice looking mint state coin going for a good price so I bid it and held the lead till it was over. The third reason I bid on this coin was that I noticed the doubling on the obverse in GRATIA and a little in REX.

I do remember some discussions on an obverse 1908 cent is the main reason that I grabbed it, but I can't remember if this is the coin being discussed.
Any one else remember anything about that discussion.

I think it's a little Machine Doubling from the looks of it. I don't remember the first discussion. I've never looked at Ed's or Geo's for apparent doubling, regardless the cause. I like it, Jim.

I'm glad you got that one...

I was watching it all week and missed the auction by a few minutes being distracted by the kids...I have about 4 or 5 of these but this one is probably the nicest...

I disagree with Machine Doubling...the serifs are split...i think this is a real DDO

A beauty and a real steal of a deal!

Very nice. I picked up an AU example at Nuphilex, and will try my luck with PCGS with it (since it is in the front of the Charlton Catalogue now).

That's a real nice find! I remember seeing that variety on the cover of the RCNA Journal last year.

Thank you for all the info and comments.

gidjit, sorry to make you jealous I was surprised that very few collectors were competing for it.

Lucky for me that C.V's kids distracted him at the right time again lucky for me .

Spp, I'll be watching your PCGS Registery Sets good luck.
What book is this coin on Spp 2019?
