I just won this coin for $60 in an online auction which is right at or below melt value. It looks to be more than just normal wear to me...thoughts?
It also has a mintage of a mere 2900 total coins, making it a scarce coin, so I took a chance on it. Any thoughts and opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

The seller also guarantees authenticity, so worse case scenerio, it's worth it's weight in gold.

It has the look of a heavy Greaser, but I'm not quite sure.

Greaser is a possibility, but gold is fairly soft, so I suspect just circulation wear.
Mine looks very similar to yours with the obverse wear of mine more like your reverse wear.

It has been badly dinged up over the years, from circulation wear. It has Post Strike Damage on the rims (happened after it left the U.S. Mint). The metal was pushed over and flattened.
Errers and Varietys.
Rest in Peace

I think it's an 1874. The 1871 had a wider date.
