We enter the half-century of interesting Baltic liaisons.

While @spence's Sobieski was fighting of the Turks on his southern flank, Charles was knocking on his northwest door.

Indeed, in 1683 Sobiski won the Battle of Vienna, which turned out to be the high water mark for the Kingdom of Poland.

In 1660 the Treaty of Oliva ended the Second Northern War, which meant the Swedes were no longer fighting the Poles.

Salzburg 1/2 thaler 1682.
1100th year commemorative of the founding of the archbishopric of Salzburg (historians later deemed they were off by a century or two). The cast of characters on the reverse is the saints whose relics are in the Salzburg cathedral. Recent pickup from the January 2019 Album auction.
