Several questions here. I'm trying to think this through.

Is this a lamination issue? Could something have been caught near the rim around 10 o'clock during the strike ?
Also the obverse WE TRU appears to be weakly struck as if Struck Through Grease?

There are small horizontal reverse cracks at the left end of the Memorial to the coin rim.

Your thoughts ............. Thank you!

As others have said, this is a struck-in rim burr.

Well I didn't have that in my educational files yet. Had to get the green out of the images. But easy on Photoshop if you know how.

Oh yeah. With Photoshop, you can do pretty much anything, as long as you know how to do it.

Coop, wouldn't the picture you just posted also be a Disc Clip? Looks a lot like it!

And also, did anyone notice those lines coming from the bottom of the letters in Monticello? It would be cool to see what those lines are. It kind of looks like Trail Dies, but I would have to see it closer.. Not sure if my eyes are just playing tricks on me.

Wow, Coop, I'm honored to have been able to contribute with my question and photos, Thank you!

I always try to investigate and search this site and others for answers to my questions before posting for help. Sometimes we just need some reassurance/affirmation of what we think we have.

I have always thought the folks in the Family were some of the best around with knowledge and willingness to help all.

to the Family!
