The ancient tradition of placing a freshly-minted coin in the keel of a new ship is still alive and well!

Yesterday there was a ceremony for the keel laying of a new cruise ship, Spirit of Discovery, in Papenburg in Germany.

I didn't attend the ceremony, but, in recognition of work I've done with the company, I got one of the medallions that were specially minted for the occasion!
