Hey crew! New to banknote collecting! Love this note but want to know if anything seems off. Seller said it may be washed or cleaned?

Also looking for potential grade/value! I'm studying bank note grading but it's way tougher than coins

If the seller is honest enough to tell it's been cleaned, stay away you can always find a nice unc one everywhere

Hey John! The seller is a friend of mine who is also new to collecting. Any chance you could grade this?

Not even close to UNC. I would grade it VF-EF. You can't tell if it is cleaned looking at the picture but I see a lot of wear on the corners.

A cleaned note is like a cleaned coin, no matter what grade it's really hard to resell, hold the note to a good light and look for creases and fold, then feel for the embossing

I have to agree Buying a note that has been cleaned or Manipulated with is not worth buying or having in your collection

Looks like a pressed fold in the upper left corner.

I have to agree with the majority of replies you've received. Take a pass on this one (there were 10,000,000 printed).

You didn't say what the asking price was. I would take it if the price were low enough. A VF listed in my old catalogue at 45. It might be OK for less than $20. Of course you would always want a better one.

The poster was new to hobby, one great advice from a seasoned collector to me was for common notes or coin always buy the best problem free grade of coin or currency you can afford, if you get in a habit of buying cheap problem units, you will almost never get rid of these in the backend, of course should have welcome you here !

with oriole If the price is right I would not pass on a devil's face note no matter what the condition.

A quick check of ebay show $10 Devil Face notes in worst condition than this one have asking prices of $50-$60, with one at $110. So considering the relatively nice condition of the bill, paying $40-$50 will be a bargain. BTW, newer catalog price is $50.
