Just circulation damage, I'd say.

Definitely a master die issue. If you look at PCGS images of 1949 cents they all have that.
There are no known DDOs for 1949 Philly cents.

Quote: but dont know if that was a problem with the master die that year If it was on one of the master dies, I'd think it would show on many working dies. If on the master hub, then would show on all dies. A few DDO's listed, Without full image, I can't add much more than that. Thanks, Doug. Image from coops library.

Oh yeah. It's a Master Die issue. I've seen it on a lot of examples.
Errers and Varietys.

Thanks guys for all the help. Really great information. Putting that one in the keeps box 2x2. Found that one in change from the quick mart. Thanks again.

You're very welcome and no problem! It's definitely a keeper, since it's a Wheat cent.

Not a master die issue, quite an obvious contact mark damage .

Coop... Chase...? There's a notch at the top right and the bottom right of the 1. Every 1949 cent has it. I don't think every 1949 cent has a contact mark in the same spot.
