Looks like fhe folks over at a collector forum [that for some reason I can't post a link] tackled a similar piece recently. From what I read there, these are mardi gras doubloons, potentially designed by H. Alvin Sharpe. You can see HAS on the obverse of these tokens. With a little targeted searching of the interwebs, you should be able to find the thread.

Thank you! Last night I did try and do a reverse image search but nothing came up that looked anything like that. So thanks for the advice I'll try that.

@winona, also one of our members (@circus) seems to have an incredible collection of mardi gras tokens. You could see if circus comments on this thread or else PM him/her to potentially get more info about your pieces. They seem to be in a special holder, with copper, silver, and gold (plated likely) examples.

In addition to being the inventor/originator of the Nola Mardis Gras doubloon. He was a jeweler, engraver, painter and in general a great artist On the reverse is Selket "Selket is the goddess of venomous creatures, particularly the scorpion. She is typically depicted as a human woman with a scorpion headpiece, or as a scorpion. She could punish the unrighteous with venomous stings, or, conversely, she could reward her worshippers by curing them from scorpion stings, snake bites, and poisons in general. She is one of the minor desert goddesses whose attributes were eventually assimilated by Isis. She had no temples, but apparently had a strong following of priests, and a small statue of her is one of the most memorable artifacts from the tomb of King Tutankhamon." There are some lettering below the ear of the male on the obverse is a male note the braided chin beard. I don't think they are mardi Gras pieces. Since All of the ones I have seen even the special and limited editions ones in silver etc have the krewe on them. Since He did other work out of his jewelry shop, they could be for some special event exhibition etc. I woud take them out of the holder and check the rim of the medallet to see if there is any thing impressed into it.
After Looking at the photos again, and with the reverse with the engraving of Selket having a well defined backside in a what appears to be a sheer see through dress. He may had other ideas in what he was depicting. There are numerous mentions of Selket in relation eroticism, sexual connotations, stars and astrology. Most of the rambling are over my limited knowledge of the subjects of astrology, esotreicism (Esotericism is about secret knowledge for a small group of people. Esotericism also describes mystical, spiritual or occult viewpoints (point of view). Esotericism studies Gnosticism, Yoga, Alchemy, Magic, Spiritualism, Hypnosis, Astrology, Meditation, Mysticism, and Occultism.)

I search through his stuff for a long time and I could not find the matching coin. But you're right it did lead to a lot of erotica. I actually didn't check the Franklin mint though and my grampa really liked the Franklin mint and they always had interesting soften I he had gotten that egipshun statue so I may check out the Franklin mint too.

Don't know what you mean by"Ha, guess that goes in the free Masonic pile. The masonic tokens and pennies are very collectable. The trio is not from the Franklin mint, That isn't their type. Take your free pile to your local coin store and see if they are interested in buying them.

I laugh because I do have a growing pile of secrets societee items. I have taken some of them in and and had them looked at to one place but they snubbed their nose at that as well as the Canadian coins the old ones. I'll have to try another place. But I do indeed have a lot of the free Mason/Eastern starMemorabilia but not really it's tools they used I guess badges and a certificates to get into their meetings and letters I believe my great aunt was the treasurer of her orderI need my great grandfather was superior court criminal judge who also was a Freemason. And I'm getting to have quite a file not just have tokens and stuff but of lots of other stuff dishes and weird um maybe it goes on your dresser a different cups are outlined in gold and things. Definitely something I've got a look in to but I understand this isn't quite the group for that.

Yes the Canadian coinage can be a pain in the seat cushion to get rid of even for us that live in the shadow ow the country. The banks no longer exchange it in the southeast Michigan area unless you have it rolled or lots of it. Check out some of the auction sites on the Masonic/ Eastern Star items. I'm in the process of getti9ng an estate sales company to sellwhat is left of the parents house from a number of years ago. I can be a real pain. Good luck

Sounds like your finding some very interesting stuff.
Just so you know pre 1967 Canadian dimes, quarters, half dollars and dollars, have a silver value.
