Hi Murty,
Well, give the seller points for honesty. A less scrupulous dealer might try to pass this off as a "gem BU" coin!

It looks high AU to me. There is some probable strike weakness affecting the hair over Liberty's ear and the eagle's breast feathers. I think some of the missing detail is due to light wear. There's little or no luster evident from the photos, which could be the result of over-dipping. On the plus side, Liberty's cheek is very smooth and the fields are exceptionally free of marks.

Overall, I'd call it AU-55 and with decent eye appeal.

How do you see it?

Jacobler,
Thanks. I know that this year has flat strikes so I wasn't sure of light wear or flat strike. The luster didn't show well in the picture. The price was right!

I wouldn't want to call this one without the call in-hand. All of Jaobler's reasoning is accurate (as usual); for me the cheek would make the difference. If the color/finish directly behind the nose (where, in the pics, it seems slightly discolored) matches the same near the ear, then it's a strong MS64 coin. If not, it's AU58.

It is, either way, a very nice example.

....On another note, there's some green color by the stars.
Sure it was vinyl and not PVC flip ? I would give it an acetone bath just incase.

you got it! I would go for the bath on that big pup. I never had any problem with bathing white silver. I take in mind you know to get 100% acetone, wear mask, not mess with it drunk :) etc...

Looks like another tricky one, and with Dave and Jaobler both chiming in already, take my assessment with a grain of salt. I think the only way to tell would be in hand, as it is hard to determine weak strike to rub on this one. My assumption is that if the rub was enough to see via photos, there would undoubtedly be some marks in the fields. These fields look so clean, I just find it hard to believe it's not a weak strike. I think MS64 would be easy.

On the other hand, if the experts have found it to be common to have very clean fields and still show rub on the high points, then so be it, and you have the hugh AU.

looking at the coin in hand I think Au-58 is probably the correct grade!
