It's a Large Date.
On a small date, the top of the 7 should
line up with the 9 & 0

There are several discussions here at CCF about the 1970 S SD. I recommend to newcomers to use the expanded search tool to research dates and questions you have about coins. Search results will give you hours of reading and specimens to view. If that doesn't work, lots of fellow enthusiasts here to lend a hand. Enjoy the forums!

Great picture; unfortunately it clearly shows a large date.

To CCF! It's a Large Date, not a Small Date Cent.

alwaysgavino: Here is a way you can test these out yourself. On your first image, take an envelope or a business card and place it on the screen on the tops of the date digits:

You will see which example your coin matches to the ones I just posted. Note the small date shows the tops of the devices the same in height? Now check yours.

Now look at the bottom of the 7 on the date. place the same card across the bottoms of the digits of the 1 through 0 date area. Note how the large date show the bottom of the 7 below that line of the bottom of the 1-0 area. That is the first thing I look at to see if it is a large or small date. Hope this helps.
