Just so we're looking at the same thing... I see something on the right side, above the bundle of arrows and into the wing, and maybe something higher up in the wing directly above that. Is that the area in question?

Can you tell if this is just a discoloration, or is there extra/less metal than there should be?

I'm wondering if that's Feeder Finger Scrapes on the wing?

@GH, first welcome to CCF. Second, even with this last pic, which is definitely your best, I still not sure that I see what you are describing. In the future, it is helpful to use a program like Paint to draw arrows or circles highlighting key details.

However, I do see an indistinct vertical lne that proceeds down from the apex of the eagle's left wing. It is directly below the F of the word OF.

I'm not sure about the die prep on these special mint sets, but if this had been found in circulation, I would have thought it to be a die gouge. Right now, that's my best guess.

@john1, if it is a die clash, then what part of George's portrait are you proposing is a straight line? Sorry, but I'm not seeing that for the OP's coin.

Looks like a die gouge. Flows behind the deeper part of the devices. Touching the mid devices. Thanks for the arrows. I couldn't see anything.
