I just filled the spot in my type set for the braided hair type with a nice AU50 from 1849. I looked in PCGS coinfacts for varieties, and I saw that there is a Cohen-1 (C-1) die variety, but I couldn't tell if mine is the regular die combination, or the C-1.
Can anyone help me, and point out how to ID the different Cohen varieties?

That makes sense, with a run of under 40k coins. But why are some large-date 1849's designated C-1, and others are not? Usually, if there's only one variety, then CoinFacts won't have an extra designation under "related coins".
Just depends on whther or not the variety was designated on the holder. A large date 1849 is a C-1 whether they put it on the slab or not, but they seem to list them both ways as if they were two different things.
