I think that the 2nd one is a 9/6. My culls are making a circuit around the world .. but Scott lives right here in Burlington, so these didn't go far. BTW, if you click on the image it, magnifies.

I don't know a Haxby from a Bill Bixby, but I do know a good golf ball marker when I see one - and you have plenty!!

I'm guessing #2 might be a late state PC59-501 ( 50+J9 )because of the filled in last A of CANADA. Looks like the die crack to the right of the R of GRATIA might be there also. It's very hard to be sure for one in that condition.
Trying to attribute low grade coins is a great exercise for getting familiar with the Haxby catalog.
Thanks for posting these photos gidjit!

Phil ... Is PC59-501 ( 50+J9 ) one of the 9/6's?

No Bill, the Haxby #'s for the 9/6's are 45a1 (45a+I7) and 421 (42+I4).
The obverse 50 is the only die I know of that has the filled in last A of CANADA. That's why I think gidjit's #2 coin may be the 501, but in that low grade, it's hard to know for sure.

OK ... as you know, I'm noy a great user of Haxby. I just thought that I saw something in the gap between the tail and the upper loop. The vine break at 2 looked right as well (but obscured).

Yes Bill, the break at loop 2 does look a lot like it would on an I reverse (which both of the 9/6's are).
But, there are a few J reverses that have a very weakly or incompletely repaired loop 2, and they can look a lot like I reverses especially when they are well worn or damaged. I've mistaken those J reverses for I's many times. The J9 reverse is one of those with a weakly repaired loop 2. The G reverse group also has a break at loop 2.
That's one reason there are thousands of photos in the Haxby catalog, to try and show as many points of attribution as possible. There's usually some areas even on badly worn or damaged coins that are clear enough to identify.
I'll admit, it does take a little work to get the hang of using the catalog, but it's worth the effort. These coins gidjit posted are challenging, but once you've figured these out, most of the higher grade ones will be a breeze.
Besides, it's fun. It's like solving a numismatic mystery!

Gidgit .. If I remember right, you have more to look through and study. I still think that the 59's are one of the prettiest coins minted anywhere any time ... even well worn, Vicky is neat.

I agree with you on everything except #6 gidjit.
There doesn't look like enough of a repunch on the top of the C of CANADA to be obverse 55, and the stem of leaf 9 looks like it enters the leaf lower than reverse J14a.
Can you post some clear enlarged photos of leaf 9 and loop 2?
I'm leaning toward PC59-591 on this one, but not sure.
