Hey Guys,,,I can't find any place or anyone that can tell me what the X-Prefix of the serial number represents. If anyone knows for sure I would appreciate it. Thanks
The series 1957B $1 Silver Certificates started with the prefix "Q", and they ran up the alphabet printing hundreds of millions of notes, and ended with the prefix letter X".
Nothing to it, but no extra value for being an X prefix.
Edited to add; Unlike modern FRN's, the Silver Certificates prefix doesn't represent a Federal Reserve District. It's just the letter that follows W .
Where did you find those notes? Except for some serious creases (and maybe a small tear on the bottom of the 2nd note), they appear to be in good shape.
They don't look in that good of a shape to me - I see staining and at least one margin tear, not to mention the heavy creasing. Neither would straight grade in my opinion.
