I have a 1942 Mercury dime that is in XF condition except for the fact that it has two serious dents. I am wondering if the is post production from the mint.

Not a variety, just damage after it left the mint.

To CCF , are you talking about a 1942/1 over date ? I think I see the 1 to the left of the 2 . Either way it's a details coin .

Better check that date. If it's 2/1 as it appears, it's still worth a lot more than scrap.

moxking-
I noticed that line also but it appears to be too thin.
The vertical line should be the same thickness as the two and also the two is too close to the four.
(I used all 3 versions of two in five words).
Better pictures with more detail would be needed before saying if it is or not.
