Glad to have found this forum, there seems to be a wealth of information available here. I found an odd dime in my pocket change yesterday. It's a 1985 D Roosevelt dime which appears to have been struck on a planchet too small in diameter. The strike itself is fine, centered and without deformation, there just isn't room enough on the planchet for the entire design. Also, the rim and edge are excellent, with no signs of deformation or modification. Does anybody have an idea of how a dime may have come to be struck in this fashion, and of course, would it have any value to a collector? Thanks, David

to the Forum.

What you have is called " Dryer Coin " it has spent a long time in the cloth dryer spinning! Anothe clue is also the edge, look how the reeding is completely gone and has become smooth
There are several threads on this forum about Dryer Coins, use the search bar on the top left of the page, they are informative and good reads.

Thank you, Chase and Bobby. After looking at the other Dryer Coins that does appear to be what I have found. Thanks again.

Definitely a Dryer Coin. You can see how the edge got folded up.
