*** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark / Denomination to Title. Titles are Important! ***I found this in some old coins I inherited from my grandparents. I've tried to figure out if its a fake or not but I'm still unsure. Some things look a bit off to me so it is most likely a fake, but I'm not a coin guy so what are your guys thoughts? pictures in the comments Edited by Smokewagon 07/19/2018 9:01 pm

Just because this coin is fake doesn't mean the other coins you have are.
Post up pics of the rest.

@smokewagon, first welcome to CCF. Second, if you look at pictures of the real deal (for example at the PCGS website), you will see that your piece has some different characteristics. There are many differences, but one example of a difference is that your coin has a rim with tiny round denticles rather than the lozenge-shaped denticles of the actual coin.

@spence. this is what I figured. my slight confusion came when I found a video on youtube talking about the version of this coin where the last star is under her. so I wasn't sure of the variations out there.

Ok yes for sure there are variations, but not something so fundamental as rim vs. no rim I think. Beyond the design, you could see if this coin is attracted to a magnet (it shouldn't be) and weigh it (should be 27.0 g). Many of the cheap Chinese fakes can be sniffed out with these two tests.

It is certainly fake, and those tests should be the first steps in an investigation. Quote: Just because this coin is fake doesn't mean the other coins you have are. That's true. Please do post any other interesting coins you have inherited. A new topic in the appropriate forum for each coin would be best.
