Appears to be Excessive Solid Raised Plating Build Up at the Chin and Neck of Lincoln on Obverse? Any Thoughts? Thanks.

I'm guessing it is MD on that area. If so you might see striation lines along that edge of the jaw. Now a doubled die. Turn the coin around 180 degrees and see if you can see the striation lines. I would like a close up image of that.

It could be Machine Doubling, but better pictures would be needed to tell for sure. Definitely something very interesting is going on with the chin.

Perhaps sheared plating?

that a photo from the lower angle toward the beard might be helpful.

Thanks E&V, Coop and moxking for evaluating the coin. Here's some side angle photos as requested.

That's a stumper for me.

I thought the plating might have folded, but I don't think so.

For sure it's a keeper if for no other reason than keeping a real oddity.

Interesting for sure. Suspecting die movement played a roll. In a way this unique effect seems familiar, but do not recollect when or where at the moment. Thanks, Doug.

I agree. It may not be a money maker, but it is interesting.

I would keep it as well. It's a very weird and unusual oddity.

The glare is taking over. Try rotating the coin so the light isn't a spot light on it. I need to see something like this:
