Die polishing reduces the fields. Why do they polish? To remove clash lines. When this happens several times, then the fields and sub field devices are affected. That is what has happen to the die before your coin was struck.

It was over polished, since they were trying to remove a Die Clash. That's a great example and a keeper. Very nice find and congratulations! http://www.error-ref.com/thinning-a...gn-elements/

That's a marvelous find. Great example of a die that was used and polished to ponytail death!

Not to Mention he has no neck either. Can we make it an official VAM? We can call it the VAM 00Meow1, Floating head with rat tail.

Meow,
The VAM term relates to Morgan dollars and Peace dollars, not other coins.

Oh Meow did not know that. Well Meow suggests we call all Feline discovered nickel varieties MTKs. Of course MTK would be an abbreviation for MeowtheKitty.

We could set something up like VAMs, only called RATs [ Random {errors) Attributed (by) The (Kitty)]

So that would be 1965-005-RAT-001

Die polishing does not create varieties.
