I can see it, it mirrors the N on the coin. I am not expert but I do think it is an error. I ll let experts chime in.

Is the partial N raised or incuse into the coin?
That is incredibly bizarre. Maybe struck through die debris that had accumulated in the letter n in the die and then fell out on to the planchet prior to striking. Thats literally the only thing I can think of that might do that in the way it looks.

Just checked mine and no noticeable marks on any of the coins. Curious what others more knowledgeable have to say.

I'll look at mine later when I get the chance. If indeed the areas are incuse vs raised, it was not an issue with the die. Could have been some foreign matter on the die or more likely, post-strike damage.

Looking at it, it looks like something was laying on the planchet when it was struck...and then fell off after being struck.

It really depends on what it is
I think it could possibly be a "dropped letter" error, as XOG described

I think a dropped letter error is the only solution that I can come up with...what should I do? Leave it or send it off for grading/authentication? Not sure if the premium is worth the return...although it does seem like a pretty rare error.

If it is a dropped letter error, it is probably worth slabbing. I think that there would be several people interested in it if you ever decided to put it up for sale, I know I certainly would be. I'm thinking that it's Post Strike Damage most likely.
