Meow found this yesterday. It has some kind of epoxy stuck on it, as solvent would not take it off. So this is as clean a Meow could get it.

Are you sure that this is a "BIE"? It looks more like damage to me.

Hey Cat, get some 100% Acetone and give it a soak for an hour - it usually removes glues and residues.

Using 100% Acetone works very well on coins. I've done it many of times, and the results are great.

Rest in Peace

It's so damaged it may not last in the dogfood fund jar! Get it out the door into a nice CoinStar quickly...before it evaporates!

The best Meow could do was lacquer thinner. Soaking in that for a whole day did nothing. That's why Meow thinks its epoxy on the coin. Maybe MEK or equivalent can remove it.

It's okay that you used lacquer thinner on this coin, since it's heavily damaged, but don't use it on any valuable coins.

Meow is bummed, that Meow might be missing out on a coin variation that can be added to the Cat hoard. But yes, it might be better just to give up on this one.

Looks like a split plating issue. Spendable. Not a die chip.
