The mint mark placement is caused from the planchets being struct from different dies. The two coins I can see in the image you posted; the one on the right looks to be more circulated and the devices are worn making them appear to be larger. IMO

Mint mark places vary, since they were punched by hand into the dies back then. They are not errors though, just different mint mark locations.

To me the 9s and the 4s look totally different in size and design and I don't see how a coin that was circulated more than another one would make the date or any writing to become bigger or change the appearance as the two or three 9s all looking different thanks

They're normal, not varieties. Small and Large Dates didn't exist on the 1944 S Lincoln Wheat cent.

Neverdidnt mean to label them as errors just curious if these could fit in the same category as the 1960 and 1970s large and small date varieties

They are completely normal and not varieties. MMs vary in placement because they were hand punched into the die back then.

These are all the same date logos; only the mintmark position can vary.

Quote: To me the 9s and the 4s look totally different in size and design and I don't see how a coin that was circulated more than another one would make the date or any writing to become bigger or change the appearance as the two or three 9s all looking different thanks Circulation for decades can alter the devices or coins appearance. Flatten devices from circulation will often appear larger. While a less or uncirculated coin for decades can appear nearly unaltered. The date on the coin indicates the year minted, but does not dictate the amount of circulation a coin has actually been subjected too. As mentioned other factors can play a roll. Die wear and deterioration can reduce the size, while a partial grease filled device can appear larger. Left to right coin one is to dark to make out. Coins two and three seem a bit different in size. Coin three shows either die wear or grease filled issues on the lapel, while the date seems a bit larger. Note a combination of factors mentioned above is also possible. Thanks, Doug.
