I cannot find any image that resembles this kind of flower in my searches, and I don't know how to hone my searches because one side of the coin has almost no distinguishable markings.

For once I don't think this is a button,
see here https://www.zeno.ru/showgallery.php?cat=881 for similar coins from Morocco.

@andyg, that's an interesting possibility.

I don't know these Morocco types really well, but it seems the side with the knob has a well defined Star of David in most (all?) cases, and I'm not getting that on the posted object, though maybe that's due to the state of corrosion (admittedly there are a couple of lines between 9:00 and 12:00 faintly suggestive it could be there).

Even if it were a contemporary fake, that's certainly different than a button.

It looks like a well worn Morocco falus

It's similar to Valentine #7 (Morocco)
Mysterious-Flower-Coin/Token-In-My-Father-In-Law's-Collection-Id:-Likely-Moroccan-Falus
which is the closest I've found.
