Bate, circulation wear and circulation flattening has caused the devices to look bigger in size. It's damage that caused this.

They spend a lot of time in vending machines getting altered by the mechs they go through. Casinos used to use them as well.

Yep. After awhile, the vending machines start to get rough on them, especially if it's spent a lot of time going through them repeatedly.
