Trying to find out how common this Toonie is. I may have handled hundreds of them and just never noticed, but a quick check of my rolled coins did not produce another. It's a 1996, but the orientation is off by 90 degrees between the obverse and reverse.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

That's called a rotation, approx 90°. Great find, I can't advise re value or worth but someone from Canada will probably chime in soon.

Wow! Thanks Nevol & Scopru! Quick answers (that make me a little more excited). I figured 90 degrees since it was a 1/4 rotation in a 360 degree circle. I'm not super concerned about a monetary value (although that would be nice, too). I'm just really pleased that it's worth putting in my Toonie album :-)

You're correct, it is 90°, my math left me temporarily.

to CCF.

Nice find for sure. Congrats. Now, is it a German or Canadian planchet?

Thanks to all the replies and comments!!

@loonielewy - I wish there was an easy way to tell...! My research tells me there should be a raised border on the ring for the German planchet. I'm terrible at spotting these little differences!! What do you (all) think?...

Oh wow... Sorry! I just did a preview of my post and didn't realize how large the image was...

Now, I don't think this is the German Planchet, seeing it this big...

My apologies to CCF and everyone. I thought the actual post of my image would be 'shrunk' in the forum.

Me too. Being 22 years old now, it might have to remain a mystery.
