For anyone who's interested, the Mint has posted designs and prices for the Washington and Adams silver presidential medals. Price is $39.95 and it looks like they're being struck on ASE blanks and using the same designs as the bronze medals.

It is going to be very difficult for me to not buy these medals. I really love the ones in my C&C sets, which are the same (bronze medal designs struck on the ASE blank). Since there are no limits I will probably order them as I can afford them and build a set.

It looks like about $1800 (45 x $40) over the next 10 years to collect them all. I'm undecided still.

There is at least one that I will not buy. I might also skip the six I already have in the C&C sets. It would be eight, but the Reagan set has an actual ASE (30th anniversary) instead of a silver medal and the Lincoln has the commemorative dollar.

So is it two released this year and four each the following years?

I might purchase a few of my favorite presidents over time or one with a particularly appealing design, but they won't be a priority in my coin budget. It's a nice way to add some silver though! Should be a fun series to keep an eye on.

Disappointing the two that are listed have the same reverse. Quote: It looks like about $1800 (45 x $40) over the next 10 years to collect them all. I'm undecided still. Should be less than that. There is a very strong possibility that most if not all will end up being available close to melt on ebay especially if they keep all having the same reverse

Even the one silver medal that is generally considered part of the classic silver commemorative series is not particularly collectible or valuable despite its mintage of under 40,000.

Quote: Even the one silver medal that is generally considered part of the classic silver commemorative series is not particularly collectible or valuable despite its mintage of under 40,000. This statement appears to be referencing the 1925 Norse-American Centennial medals. If it is, then I would have to strongly disagree with the statement. The two silver versions and the gold version are very collectible and can be very valuable. Attractive gem mint state examples (i.e., MS-65) of the more common "Thick" silver variety generally sell for $450 or more (sometimes much more) and the "Thin" silver variety in the same condition can bring over $1,000 if it is true to grade and has strong eye appeal. The much scarcer gold variety goes for thousands of dollars with it not uncommon for gem pieces to sell for prices in excess of $20K.

Quote: Disappointing the two that are listed have the same reverse. This should not be a surprise. They are using the same obverse and reverse of the existing bronze medals.

Quote: They are using the same obverse and reverse of the existing bronze medals If that trend continues, then the reverse will change sometime during the series. The Lincoln and Kennedy bronzes have different reverse designs. I'm interested in this set. Will try for most of them if they don't get snatched up by speculators...

The six I have in the C&C sets have different reverses. We also have this to consider. Many of the modern presidents have two medals, one for each term of office. It is t be seen which one will they use for the silver medal or if they end up doing both.

I honestly hadn't paid much attention to the bronze medals, disappointing to learn that they even recycle designs on those when some world medals are some of the most beautiful intrigue designs

I suppose it is a good thing that you do not have to buy them.
