Meow has continued to CRH quarters today. Meow got two rolls of BU New Jersey ATB Quarters. So Meow looked through them to find the nicest ones. There where not that many that where that nice. Most had bag marks and dings from the rims of the others. But anyway, Meow noticed out two rolls of BU New Jersey there where two varieties. Some had a die chip in the field near the mintmark.(x10) And some had a die chip on the E in States.(x15) None had both die chips on one coin.
Just wanted to share.

The first picture posted might have a Die Chip. The second and third picture shows etheir a Struck Through or damage, not a Die Chip.

Could you explain struck through? Meow has about 10 quarters with the same exact tiny little lump by the mintmark. Meow has more than 15 of the die chip on the E.

@mtk, here is an excellent reference on errors, with a really nice section on coins that have been struck through debris:

From NGCcoin.com

Quote:
Struck throughs occur when a piece of foreign material comes between the die and a planchet during striking. The coin is said to be "struck through" the foreign material, which leaves behind an impression on the coin's surface.

Meow does not understand which one would apply. The blemish by the mintmark is a bump, not a dent; And Meow has about ten identical coins. So maybe a piece of debris dented the die? And quite a few where made with the damaged die.

Ah ok very good point. If the spot by the mm is raised then it is not a struck through error because, as you correctly point out, that leaves an incuse defect. It could be some damage to the die, especially if you have multiples with the exact same defect.

If it is raised, then it is incuse on the die. Mint marks were not added since 1990 when are on the die. So it is not a 'D', (too small). It must be die damage then.

Meow has not found defects like this before. Too bad Meow did find 2 BU rolls of a valuable double dies.
