Cracked Die In Monticello?

Hi everyone, happy 4th.

The "O" in Monticello is filled. Is this from a cracked die? The extra metal protrudes above the O. Are these common? Please see attached pic.

You're close Mike, die chip not a crack. Although it's in a odd place, they are fairly common and carry no extre premium.

The crack started a few strikes back. Now wear from striking is continuing to wear the post off the die that forms the center of the O. Eventually you would see all of the post disappear filling the whole Center of the O in. Some call it a filled die, but really the post is breaking down and when it is gone it looks like the O is filled. Dies are just negatives of the coin. Probably when this happens the die will continue to be used. Happens on dates and LIBERTY a lot. No extra value for this. If you were going for a high grade coin, it would lower the grade. So it's really not a plus.
