moose59 Pillar of the Community United States 732 Posts	Posted 08/09/2018 3:41 pm I recently picked up this coin. It is in AU-Unc condition but there are some ugly black spots on the reverse. Should I leave it? Send it some where to have it cleaned and slabbed? Report this Post to the Staff

I'm not sure what has happened to the reverse, but it I'm gonna guess the chances for improving it are slim (hopefully you got a good deal on it). There are a number of collectors here who have experience cleaning/restoring and may be able to give you advice/ Report this Post to the Staff

Seeker55 Pillar of the Community United States 634 Posts	Posted 08/11/2018 8:23 pm A brief dip in E-Z-Est (Jeweluster) coin cleaner might significantly reduce the dark spots, but be aware that you would then have a bright silver coin with its already visible wear (so may look slightly odd). Personally, if it were mine, because there's not great numismatic value, I would probably do it just for appearance. A patina will return eventually, after a long time.
